Scotty is a litigator with a concentration on domestic relations law, including divorce, equitable distribution of property, valuation of closely held corporations, custody, and child and spousal support.

He handles cases throughout Virginia including Charlottesville, and surrounding areas: Richmond, Lynchburg, Roanoke, Blacksburg, Staunton, Harrisonburg, Northern Virginia, and other areas across the state. He also handles appeals to the Virginia Court of Appeals with several reported Opinions from that Court.

Scotty is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Family Law Section of the Virginia State Bar and is a past Chairman of the Family Law Section of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and past member of that Association’s Board of Governors. Scotty has written articles for various law journals and treatises and is a regular teacher of continuing legal education classes around the Commonwealth. Scotty is also trained in the Collaborative Law Process which helps parties find common ground and unique ways to settle their family law case without resorting to litigation..
